Computers

Apple computers are far from being the best in the world despite the zeal of devoted followers, nor are they the worst. Apple look the best, they may even feel the best, although it is my experience that in order for them to do that, some PC derived programs and a PC derived mouse with at least, for Bob's sake, two buttons have to enter the equation. And that, for me, ruins the Apple image a bit. It corrodes and compromises the base pillars of the platform on which Apple stands. It lounges there, proud, sleek, so white and gleaming looking over at the PC platform which is overflowing with mismatched bits and parts, all making a hideous cacophony of electric sounds. Some fall over the edges and into nothingness, soon to be forgotten.

Some, who have successfully avoided falling to their deaths come over to Apple's side and even though Apple really should come up with equivalent counterparts of it's own, it lets them play. So, the overall look and feel of, say, an iMac G5 with a matching white buttoned, clear frame keyboard is effortlessly and efficiently destroyed by the black and silver Logitech mouse sitting besides them, all because Apple stubbornly refuses to believe that in order for a consumer to get the most out of a computer, he needs not only what looks good but also what's practical. The improvements Apple is making on this area seem to be few and far between.

And so, Apple's pristine platform, rising next to PC's weird one, is slowly getting ridden with peripherals that stand out from the white and sleek look. Like mice that, to Apple's astonishment, take into consideration that one of the reasons humans have gotten where they are is because of the opposable thumb. These mice, therefore, are shaped to fit the average hand and are even tailormade for different shapes and sizes, lest the hands that hold them be sacrificed on the altar of carpal tunnel. It's these things that, for some people, make the choice between a PC and a Mac an easy one and people steam into the heap of PC's and their abundant extra bits. But if you know what to look for you can strike gold so bright, so shining, gleaming and elegantly designed that Macs will never know what hit them.
